"Prepared For Christmas?"
Are you prepared for Christmas? Are you getting stressed out trying to get ready? Just thinking about Christmas, does it make you tired?
Well, how prepared do you think Mary and Joseph felt that first Christmas? (They might not have called it Christmas, but it was.)
They were in a strange place. They were away from home. They were away from the familiar.
They were about to become parents. Indeed, they were about to become parents for the first time with all the additional tension that brings.
They couldn't find lodging. Shelter is one of the most basic of needs for our security and comfort.
They were away from family and every support system they needed.
Talk about being unprepared for Christmas! Mary and Joseph had just cause to be stressed.
But, one person has always been prepared for Christmas, even for that first Christmas.
God was prepared. He sent Jesus to earth, knowing His life and death were part of a much greater plan for eternity.
He knew this gift to the world this gift of his only Son would change everything and everyone.
He knew Jesus would come to give hope and love to a world that needed it then and that still needs it.
God knew that the gift of Jesus, His only Son, could purchase everything everyone would ever need everything everyone would ever need, not only for Christmas, but all year around.
Thank God for Christmas, a time of celebration. Thank you, God, for Jesus.
