The little girl was with her mother in the waiting room while her older sister was being examined by the dentist. The girl kept busy playing with toys until she noticed her mother sitting with her eyes closed. She marched up to her mother and looked her straight in the face.
Then loudly she said, "Mommy, wake up. This is not church."
Of course, "Mommy" opened her eyes to the laughter of everyone in the waiting room.
Resting while waiting for someone is no crime. Actually, it can be a good use of time.
However, how often has God wanted to look us straight in the eyes and say, "Wake up. This life is no game. Church is not a social event. Church is not a "runway show" for your clothes. Your little worries are not the be-all' and end-all' of real life. Wake up and tell people about me!"
What has taken your attention? What is your primary focus? Have you managed to fit God into your actions and thoughts? Do you have time to listen to the Lord? About whom do you spend most of your time thinking? What do you spend most of your time doing? Is God just a compartment of your life or does He have a place in every activity? Are you so overwhelmed with the daily grind that you forget the One who made you and the One who controls every daily happening good or bad of your life?
Church, wake up! Give God His rightful place of priority. Begin each day with God and end every day with God. Include God in the daily stuff of life. Church, wake up!
