In the past, we had a ritual at the office. Each morning one of our workers asked a similar question. On Monday it was, "How are you on this marvelous Monday?" My response needed to start with an "m." The next day's question is, "How are you on this terrific Tuesday?" Most often, that answer was "tired."
Before I got out of bed this morning (Tuesday), I was trying to think of my response. Suddenly the obvious dawned on me. I am thankful.
My family members are all healthy and working. I am thankful for our physical circumstances.
I am working. I am thankful for our business and a job and an income.
I love my husband, sons and daughter-in-law. I am thankful for my family.
My parents are in heaven and Paul's parents are still living. I am thankful for a Christian background and extended family.
We attend a church that preaches the Gospel and where fellowship is great. I am thankful for our church and my family's involvement there.
And then there are some things that aren't quite so obvious.
I discovered evidence of a mouse in our den (some years ago). I am thankful for a warm house and food (both of which the little critter apparently enjoyed).
With daylight savings time, 6 a.m. has seemed especially early to get up. I am thankful for a soft bed, warm water for washing, clothes to wear.
Dishes are stacked in the dishwasher and dirty clothes are in the hamper. I am thankful for food to eat and sufficient clothes to take us through the week.
And, don't you know, another driver pulled right out in front of me. I am thankful for good brakes and quick reflexes.
So how are you this terrific Tuesday? I am thankful!
