"Through His Eyes"
Many of you probably saw the newest British singing sensation either on TV news or on the web.
Susan Boyle appeared on the British TV show, "Britain's Got Talent." Just to look at her and to listen to her brogue way of talking, I (like many others) assumed she would be a terrible singer. I was expecting the worst and prepared for a good laugh.
However, when she opened her mouth, I was blown away by the sound. Her voice quality and her amazing delivery brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful voice and presentation!
My initial judging was based totally on outward appearance. Shame on me. Am I so surface shallow that I don't see the real person on the inside?
The sad thing is that sometimes as Christians we see people and give up on them based on the way they dress or their looks. We look at them and think they will never come to Christ anyway, so why should I waste my time sharing Jesus with them? We assume they are too bad or too good for God to touch them. Not so.
God can touch any heart. No one is too bad. No one is too good. No one is too rich or too poor. God cares for everyone and wants everyone to come to Him for cleansing, healing and eternal life. He can touch anyone who wants to be touched.
Lord, forgive me for assuming that anyone is too far away for you to touch. Help me to see through God's eyes of love and compassion.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" ( Isaiah 55: 8 & 9).
