Paul's Epistle...
"Your Favorite Verses – Part 2"

A few weeks ago I shared some favorite Scripture verses and asked you for yours. Then did share some of them and today I'd like to pass along some more – and why the submitters believe they're special:

Romans 5:8 "But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." I didn't have to "clean up my act" for God (as if I could). He loved me in spite of what I was, not because of it. – Jerry Martin

Luke 7:47-48"Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven." Like this woman and also the woman at the well my sins were many. Therefore I was forgiven more than someone with very little sin in their life and I love my Savior with the greatest love possible. It is so hard for me to understand that He would love me so much He would die for a little nobody like me. – Janet Burton

2 Timothy 1:7"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind." This verse spoke great peace and comfort to me four years ago when I went through cancer surgery and the treatments. – Arlene Richard

Isaiah 26:3 "Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." I was having a mammogram when they wanted to take an ultrasound because they saw something and that was the verse God gave me. I was alone but He was there. PTL! – Margaret Franklin

Psalm 139:9-12 "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." When we've gone through the darkest of nights and the longest of days, the Lord has never left us. His hand has always been there to lead us and to lift us up. – Jane Hitchcock

Numbers 6:24-26"May the Lord bless you and keep you, May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, And be gracious to you; May the Lord turn His face toward you, And give you peace." When people ask me for prayer and they are going through hard times, I pray this verse to them. I have always felt that if you can have peace when you face adversity, death, diagnosis or life issues, then this verse can give them peace because they are feeling the peace that God has given them. – Gary L. Jones

Philippians 3:10a "I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings." I now count it a privilege to be able to share in His sufferings by being lied about, falsely accused and rejected by my "friends" who became my supervisors. It took a long time before I was willing to accept that I was really suffering for His sake, though. – Hope H.

2 Corinthians 9:8 "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have abundance for every good work." – I found this verse during the time of waiting for my disability [income payments] to start – and not knowing when it would. But every month, I never knew how the monthly bills would be paid. But every month for three years God always provided a way – every time. This is one of my three daily verses I read at the conclusion of my devotions, to provide extra strength and encouragement that God is always faithful! – Tex Noel.

Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." I don't want to be ashamed of Christ and the Good News of the Gospel. – Ralph S.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 "But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." With all the turmoil in our world today we heard a young pastor preaching about ‘Christians living defeated lives.' He took us to this scripture and it just lifted my spirits. We are not defeated! We win! The very next day I shared this with all of my e-mail buddies with an exciting response. – Beverly Culp.

Thanks again to everyone who submitted verses, such as those presented above in the version shared by the writer. We have more and will share some of them soon. If you have a favorite verse and you haven't submitted it yet (along with a few words about why it's special, as above) please do so at the email address below.
