From the broadcast the weekend of August 18th & 19th, 2012:

Sheri LaFontaine Our Featured Artist on this program, Sheri LaFontaine, is, as you heard, quite gifted — both as a singer and as a songwriter. Songs of hers which she sang included on this program were from her current "Something More" CD, including her recent radio hit, "New Every Morning." But we also visited with her as a songwriter and included some of her songs that made their way to — and were recorded by — other top artists, such as Three Bridges, the Whisnants and others. In a genre that includes very few soloists — especially female soloists — Sheri is keeping very busy with both her singing and her songwriting.

By the way, it seems there was a common, or at least similar, theme running through several of Sheri's songs. "New Every Morning," which she sang, was a reflection on Lamentations 3:23 which, speaking of the Lord's mercies, says, "they are new every morning..." Similar themes were found in "A New Day," Sheri's song sung by the Browns, and "Everyday It Starts All Over Again" sung by Three Bridges.

Torchmen Quartet Our Artist Spotlight guests on this edition were the Torchmen Quartet from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Today's group members include Mike Moran, with whom we spoke on the program, along with bass Jon Hisey, lead singer Jeff Tritton and tenor Sandy MacGregor. Songs were from their "Step Up" CD. More info about the Torchmen Quartet can be found at their website. (Note that listeners in Canada and via satellite also heard this segment the weekend of June 30th/July 1st, when the USA edition included patriotic material keyed to the 4th of July holiday.)

More information about the Sonship Quartet, heard on this program's last segment, can be found on their website.
