the weekend of June 9th & 10th, 2012: |
 Our Featured Artists
on this edition were the legendary Chuck Wagon Gang. This group's
roots go back more than 75 years — and, although group members have
changed over the years, they have preserved the distinctive harmonies and
overall sound that makes them immediately identifiable. Today's group members
are Shaye Smith, Julie Hudson, Stan Hill and Jeremy Stephens.
Songs on this program came from their current CD entitled "The Best Is
Yet To Be," including that title song.
The Gang's been keeping busy, including several special appearances related
to the group's 75th anniversary. Shaye sent me this account: "In November
of last year we celebrated our actual birthday in Nashville, TN, with an
historical concert at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop and then appeared with
Eddie Stubbs on his monthly 'Intimate Evening' program live on WSM, broadcast
from the Country Music Hall of Fame. In January we filmed a show with Marty
Stuart for his program on RFD-TV. It aired May 5th and will air again either
October or November of this year. Since then, Marty invited us to appear
on his Late Night Jam at the Ryman Auditorium June 6th. We are being inducted
into the Blue Ridge Hall of Fame on June 9th in Wilkesboro, NC. Then on June
10th we will be back in Nashville at the CMA Festival (Fan Fair) performing
on the Durango Acoustic Corner Stage, Nashville Convention Center, 11:30
a.m.-noon. We are also in the preparation stages of a 75th Anniversary CD
with more country music legends. So, a very busy year. But we are so thankful.
God has been abundantly good to the Chuck Wagon Gang and we just want to
follow wherever He leads us."
