| From the broadcast
the weekend of June 19th & 20th, 2010: |
Until I was researching
Father's Day for this program, I had no idea how widespread the
celebration is on the same day. It's been established on the third Sunday
in June (which this year is/was June 20th) in Argentina, Canada, Chile,
France, Japan, Netherlands, United States, United Kingdom and Malta. Many
other countries also have a Father's Day, but it's celebrated at a different
time. There are even websites with a huge amount of information about Father's
Day:
www.fathersdaycelebration.com
or
http://www.holidays.net/father/
(among others).
Our Featured Artists on this
broadcast were the Bowling Family, comprised of Mike and Kelly
Bowling and Terah Crabb Penhollow. As you know, Kelly and Terah
are sisters (from the Crabb Family) so the "family" part of the group's name
makes sense on many levels. Songs featured were from their current "Shine"
CD, which is the first to feature these three voices. "I Still Glory
In The Cross," their current radio single, is an exceptionally powerful
song, or, as Mike referred to it, an "anthem" that says what they want to
feel. Much more info about the Bowling Family can be found on the
bio page of their website.
The Bowling Family's CD featured on this program,
"Shine," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. You
can order easily from our webstore by
using this
link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify
for free shipping.)
On the Headline Update I mentioned the 2010 Branson Gospel Music
Convention, scheduled June 28-July 2, 2010, at the Branson (Missouri)
Convention Center. Info can be found online at
http://bransongmc.com.
