| From the broadcast
the weekend of May 8th & 9th, 2010: |
Our special theme on this program was a "Salute to Moms," coming as
the program did about the time of the Mother's Day celebration in
the USA and Canada. (It actually comes earlier in the U.K., and elsewhere,
of course, it may not be celebrated at all.) We had comments on the program
from a lot of very happy moms who also happen to be singers. Charlotte
Ritchie and Taranda Greene talked about recording songs with their
young children. Kelly Bowling took pride in her young daughter's new
solo recording. Shelly Brown and Kim Collingsworth talked about
the rigors of being a mom on the road with their respective family singing
groups. I thought Jim Brady's song was a very fitting reminder (as
the program ended) to let Mom know you love her, while it's possible to do
so. Walt Mills' song, "I Love You Today," says it all.
Our Featured Artists on this program
were the Hoppers Claude, Connie, Dean, Kim and
Mike. Songs were from their current "Unforgettable" CD. It
is, as you heard, a selection of their personal favorite songs some
they've wanted to record for a long time. Perhaps you heard some of your
favorites, too or at least songs that brought back memories for you.
Connie Hopper's song, "In A Special Way," was not from
this CD (in fact, it's from the 1980s), but it was included here as part
of our "Salute to Moms" theme. I've been playing that song most years
since it came out, and it is, indeed, a special song.
