This was the first time we ever had three
groups together as Featured Artists. (It hasn't been long since
our first "double," the combination of the Gaither Vocal Band and
Ernie Haase & Signature Sound for their current "Together" recording.)
This time it was Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Easter Brothers
and the Lewis Family. They're all involved, of course, because
they are together on their new "We Are Family" CD, on which members
of all three groups sing on each song. The "family" part fits because all
three groups are related through marriage. Jeff Easter's dad is James
Easter of the Easter Brothers and Sheri Easter's mom is
Polly of the Lewis Family. I thought it was interesting to
hear Russell of the Easter Brothers say this has been one of
the biggest "shots in the arm" for his group (ever!) in the many decades
they've been singing.

We were delighted to be able to catch up with the Chuck Wagon Gang
and bring you up to date on what's happening with this legendary group. It
never ceases to amaze me how the sound of this group has remained essentially
the same throughout their 70+ years of singing, even though group members
have changed over the years. It's an interesting combination of style and
compatible voices which are, especially for the female voices, reminiscent
of some of the way-back-when original members. One small point of tradition
is that they still sing short songs, just as they did years ago — so
I was able to squeeze in four of their songs rather than three from
their "I Have A Prayer" CD. (This is also available from Springside
