| From the broadcast
the weekend of April 12th & 13th, 2008: |
Our Featured Artists on this program were the Old Paths, referred
to either simply as the "Old Paths" or sometimes the "Old Paths
Quartet." Either way, this is a quartet that's quickly becoming a favorite
wherever they're heard, including on the radio. They have solid, modern quartet
sound. And they've been able to come up with outstanding, meaningful songs.
Songs on this program were from their current "The Old Paths - Today"
CD, including their current featured radio song, "He Chose The Tree."
Jeremy Peace loves that message: "He chose the tree for me.
He chose the tree for all of us so that we wouldn't have to suffer, so that
we wouldn't have to go through the pain and agony of living through sin,
that we could be saved, that we could have salvation. That really spoke to
me when I was able to sing that song." It's interesting that the same
CD that includes a song about Christ's choice to go to the cross then turns
around and asks the listener to make a choice, to accept Christ's atoning
work or not: "What Will You Choose Today?"
The Old Paths include Douglas Roark (baritone), Jeremy
Peace (tenor), Tim Rackley (lead), Brandon Barry (bass)
and pianist Joseph Cox.

They
say all good things must come to an end, and that certainly applies to the
news that Jason Waldrup will be leaving Greater Vision by the
fall. He will have been there 13 years, and many of today's newer fans don't
remember Greater Vision without him. But as Jason said on this program's
Headline Update, it's not a decision that came quickly. He feels the
Lord is leading him into new forms of ministry, requiring further formal
education in music and Bible. As you heard, though, he promises that music
will always be a big part of what he does. Jason says, "I love everybody
and I've enjoyed meeting everyone out on the road. Such personal friends
that you meet over thirteen years...hopefully I'll see them again."
As you recall, until recently Charlotte Ritchie and her husband,
Greg ,traveled for many years with Jeff & Sheri Easter
Charlotte as their third vocalist and Greg as their drummer. Now,
as their family grows, they have decided to move to the Nashville area where
Greg can do studio work and which forms a good base for some solo work by
Charlotte. In fact, on our Artist Spotlight segment we featured three songs
from Charlotte's new solo CD, "Bridges Over Blue." As you heard Charlotte
explain, she's gone through some difficult time following the death of her
mother in 2006. But the songs are songs of the joy Christ has brought in
spite of such losses, hence the title, "Bridges Over Blue." With producers
such as Gordon Mote and Marshall Hall, you can't go too far
wrong, and Charlotte's recording is her best yet. By the way, it is available
from Springside for the same 20 percent discount (and following the same
rules and deadline) as the Featured Artist discount above.
