From the broadcast the weekend of March 29th & 30th, 2008:

Click for Hoppers Our Featured Artists on this broadcast were the Hoppers. Two of the songs that we included came from their current CD called "The Ride" — their recent number one song, "I'm Just Waiting For My Ride," and their new radio single, "Yahweh." But to help celebrate the recent 50th anniversary of the Hoppers as a Gospel group, the other two songs we included featured the original Hopper Brotherrs. One of the songs was "You Gotta Live Like Jesus Ev'ry Day," a song the original Hopper Brothers recorded in 1966. You heard it on this program from the original LP, which, according to Connie Hopper, was the quartet's fifth recording. It was, in fact, labeled as their "5th Anniversary" recording.

The remaining song that we featured, "Bound For That City," is a new recording, but features the original Hopper Brothers who sang as part of the Hopper's 50th anniversary tour videotaping. It's due out in a few days on a DVD called "Celebration 50." In fact, it's our Featured Artists special of the week (see below). We've been visiting with the Hoppers for more than half of those 50 years, and certainly congratulate them on this half-century milestone. God had certainly blessed.

Click for Springside The Hoppers' new "Celebration 50" DVD, a song from which was featured on this program, is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. Congratulations to the Grand Prize winner in our 2008 Great Annual Giveaway!!  She's (drum roll, please) Charlotte Macy of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She, with her husband, Ed, have won the Singing at Sea Cruise next February from Templeton Tours, plus $1,000 cash toward expenses. (Information about that cruise is now available online at www.singingatsea.com.) The Macys hear The Gospel Greats program on KLVV Radio. As you could tell by her comments on the air on this program, she was EXCITED! All other winners have been notified by mail, including the 400 CD winners. Everyone who entered was mailed a packet of discount coupons for Southen Gospel music from our webstore, springside.com. Please note that many (not all) Canadian entrants received their coupon packet in the form of e-mail rather than through the post.

This was our monthly countdown edition, this time reflecting the Top 20 chart published in Singing News magazine's April, 2008, issue. The chart is based on song airplay at selected Southern Gospel radio stations across North America.
