From the broadcast the weekend of March 15th & 16th, 2008:

Click for Mark Trammell Trio Our Featured Artists on this program were the Mark Trammell Trio, with songs from their current "Once Upon A Cross" CD. Included, of course, that was title song, which fit very nicely into our "cross theme" edition. You also heard their current radio song, "Won't It Be Wonderful There," which is different from the classic Stamps-Baxter song by that title, but good, none the less. I enjoyed Steve Hurst's comment that he went with this group a few years ago just on a temporary basis — and has been there as pianist (and sometimes singer) ever since. By the way, Steve is still very much involved with his music schools. Although he does many training sessions around the country, his big school is July 6-11 this summer in Nashville. More information can be found at www.stevehurstschoolofmusic.com.

Click for Springside The Mark Trammell Trio's CD featured on this program, "Once Upon A Cross," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. You can order easily from our webstore by clicking on this link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify for free shipping.)

Doing an entire program with a "Cross" theme is something relatively new for us. We've always done an Easter special to air Easter weekend. But it quite often included quite a few "cross" songs as well as resurrection songs. So I decided a few years back to devote the program the weekend before Easter to songs dealing more with the Cross and Christ's sacrifice at Calvary. Then the Easter program (which follows) is more completely devoted to songs of resurrection and the hope that Christ's resurrection provides for each of us as Christians. This program this year was the fullest implimentation to date of the "Cross" theme — and I think it worked out well. The Cross, after all, is so central to our belief and our lives.

On the Headline Update I mentioned the upcoming SGM Fair Fair in Chattanooga, Tennessee. More information can be found at www.sgmfanfair.com.
