aired the weekend of March 1st & 2nd, 2008: |
Our Featured Artists on this program were the Talley Trio with songs
from their current CD called "Stages." It's always interesting when
an album is built around a theme or "concept." In this case, as Roger
explained on the program, the name comes from the fact that they've obviously
appeared on many stages over the years, but also that their careers
and their lives have gone through many stages, and continue to do
so. (That's true, of course, for all of us.) And because of that theme,
they've chosen to pay tribute to a few of those who have influenced them
over the years. That's why you heard guest appearances by the late Jake
Hess (thanks to a remix of archival recordings) and Connie Hopper.
That theme is also summed up in the new song they included, "We Who Come
Behind." And then, of course, there's the Talley Trio's current radio
song, "The Broken Ones," which is an amazing story song that is capturing
so much attention.
If you're a Talley Trio fan, you'll be interested to know that the
theme jingle we've been using at the beginning of the second segment of each
hour was done by them. Actually, they recorded it a few years ago for our
20th anniversary and we liked it so much we decided to use it every week.
The Talley Trio's CD featured on this program, "Stages," is
available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC
to order. You can order easily from our webstore by
clicking
on this link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the
USA qualify for free shipping.)
By the way, as was mentioned briefly on the program, the Talley Trio's
"Stages" CD comes packaged with (at no extra cost) an interesting
DVD which includes backstage video of them recording this CD and additional
features. That's where they got the clever title for the DVD: "Back Stages."
Our Artist Spotlight guests on this program were the Bradys. Vocally
they are brothers Alan and Keith Brady, Sylvia Green
and Kaila Martin. Songs heard were from their current CD called
"Focused." As you heard, their songs are all focused on living the
Christian life, as well as looking forward to heaven. After this program
was recorded, Keith Brady required hospitalization for tests following chest
pains. He's improving and thankful for the prayers so many people offered
on his behalf. All of this happened just about a week before his 50th birthday.
No connection right, Keith? More info about the Bradys
can be found here.
