Our Featured Artist on this edition was Kevin Spencer with songs from
his new CD called "Remembering Rusty." Rusty Goodman died a
relatively young man in November of 1990 after his health deteriorated rapidly.
I remember when we got word that Rusty had died, I had already scheduled
the Happy Goodmans as Featured Artists on my next broadcast. Suddenly, plans
for the program changed considerably. All of the Featured Artist segments
(it was about their "Reunion" CD, as I recall) were moved into the
first hour and the second hour (or part of it) became a tribute to Rusty's
memory. As Kevin Spencer related on the air, Rusty had a great impact on
him during his formative years as both as singer and a songwriter. And it's
neat to see that Rusty's widow and his daughter, Tanya Goodman-Sykes,
approved of, and enjoyed, this project. (Tanya sang on it.)
