From the program aired the weekend of Jan. 26th & 27th, 2008:

On this program we had one of our occasional Listener Favorite Call-Ins. If youcalled in, "thanks!"  Our next on-air All Listener Favorites Edition is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of Feb. 16/17, 2008. If you called in, maybe you'll hear yourself!

On this program you heard how you could win a visit to this spring's Southern Gospel Music Fan Fair in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The entry deadline for that giveaway has now passed.

Click for Perrys Our Featured Artists on this program were the Perrys. They're one of today's most popular and most versatile mixed groups, with Libbi and Tracy Stuffle, lead Joseph Habedank and baritone Nick Trammell, along with pianist Matthew Holt. Songs included on this program were from their "Look No Further" CD, including their current radio hit, "Holy Shore." I'm looking forward to more great songs from this CD being released to radio in the months ahead.

Click for Springside The Perrys' CD featured on this program, "Look No Further," is available from our mailorder service, Springside. Just call 1-800-38-MUSIC to order. You can order easily from our webstore by clicking on this link to go directly to this item. (Orders over $40 in the USA qualify for free shipping.)

Click for Ernie Haase and Signature SoundAs you know, the number one song for January (and still very popular for February) was from Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, "Get Away Jordan." As you know, this is not a new song. I liked the story I passed along on the program about it. Back in the early 1950s, while waiting for his group, the Statesmen, to go live on CBS-TV, Hovie Lister was taken in by an all-black-female quartet, Dorothy and the Gospel Harmonettes, as they performed "Get Away Jordan" live. After the group finished their set, Hovie asked if they would stick around for awhile and teach the Statesmen that song. They did. And the rest is history. In fact, you heard an early Statesmen cut of the song, recorded live at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville back in the 50s, on the program recently.
