| From the program
aired the weekend of Dec. 29th & 30th, 2007: |
This program was the first half of our year-end
countdown, "Gospel 2007 In Review," counting-down the year's top 40
songs. This program included songs 40 through 21. The countdown will conclude
next weekend with songs 20 through 1.
The 2007 top 40 chart was compiled at our request by Singing News
magazine, using charting points accumulated through the year for their monthly
charts. Those charts are based on airplay reported by selected radio stations
across America that play Southern Gospel music. Their airplay is presumed
to be based on the local popularity of these songs. So the full-year chart
gives a pretty good rendering of the most popular songs of the year.
I always enjoy putting these programs together. I've said that these
year-in-review programs have literally been in the works all year, which
is true. We're constantly collecting the interview material that makes it
possible to have artist and/or songwriter comments about each of the songs
that wind up in the top 40 for the year. Of course, there are plenty of such
comments on our weekly programs, too. That's a big part of what makes them
interresting and unique every week.
Note that some stations are airing Gospel 2007 In Review an extra
time as a four-hour special, perhaps on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
This is a bonus airing, and the program will also air during its regular
time slot on these stations. Please let your station know you enjoyed it.
