| From the program
aired the weekend of Nov. 3rd & 4th, 2007: |
Our Featured Artists on this program were the Inspirations, with most
songs from their new CD called "Things Are Different Now." The exception
was an additional song from their previous CD, which happens to be this month's
number one song, "If You Only Knew." Based on the feedback we get
from listeners, this is one of just about two songs that come to mind what
have been incredibly meaningful to so many people this year. Letters and
even comments during our Listener Favorite Call-In all prove how meaningful
this song's message has been to those who have lost loved ones recently.
(The other song that comes to mind is "I Can Pray," which also struck
quite a chord with many, many folks everywhere because it's about
something we each can do, even when we feel otherwise powerless to impact
circumstances around us.)
Although the CD's title "Things Are Different Now" is based on an
included song, "It's Different Now," it's ironic, in a sense, because
the Inspirations remain one of Southern Gospel music's most consistent
and unchanging quartets in Southern Gospel music. And, as any fan of theirs
will tell you, that's definitely a good thing. By the way, congratulations
again to tenor Archie Watkins for his recent induction into the Southern
Gospel Music Hall of Fame at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

It was
a joy to be able to sit down recently and talk with Debbie Bennett
about her life since the passing back in March of her husband, Roger
Bennett. As Debbie mentioned on the air, she's always pretty much been
in the background, with Roger out front. But now suddenly she find herself
completing several projects he either started or planned. And, as you heard,
she has quite a few projects still ahead. It's good to hear, too, that their
children are doing well and, pretty much, are setting out on their own lives
independently at this point. Just for the record, the segment with Debbie
on the broadcast was rather different from our usual format, as you heard.
But I thought it was fitting and allowed Debbie to present her story more
completely. I hope you enjoyed the visit, too.

The Quicks, with whom we visited during an Artist Spotlight segment
on our second hour, are certainly an energetic family trio Tim
and Sally Quick and their daughter, Rebecca. As you heard,
Sally writes many of their songs and loves it. As you also heard,
Tim Quick is suffering from a rare lung disease called "alpha one
antitrypsin deficiency." Doctors seem amazed at improvements in his health,
but Tim is quick (pun intended) to give God all the glory. Please
remember him and his family, though, in your prayers for continued recovery.
Songs included on the broadcast were from the Quicks' current CD called "The
Word Is Out." It is available
through our
webstore at this link.
